entretemps - MOVIE

2:46
entretemps is my latest conceptual movie. While my photo-stories often have a linear narrative approach, this movie is more conceptual and closer to some live theatre performances I've seen. There's a deliberate lack of voiceover or explicative texts. My purpose is to let you immerse into its mood and come up with your own story and feelings about it.

Empty June? and reflections

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 1, 2009, 4:16 AM
website (900 images) - portfolio (best works) - shop + prints - my tutorials

Hello my friends,

Here comes July! More than a month has passed since my latest photos.

June was full of reflections on my work and how to make it evolve - filling my sketchbook. It's quite tempting and easy to continue on what you know you're good at, and gently trap yourself in the same approaches and themes.

I would like to avoid that. I would like to come up with something new, but it is really difficult. Almost everyday, I'm saying to myself "Think beyond your boundaries". I have never consciously wanted to created them: sometimes I feel it's such a large world and what I represent is such as small fraction of it. It's a universe full of possibilities and I only approach so few of them.

I'm not saying that I would like to represent the world. I've never had the will to do so, and would rather keep on exploring these extra little things that add a little magic to it. But there are some other possibilities. And I need to challenge myself to explore them.

I am happy that my models are so open too, I know we will both challenge ourselves.

Creating short movies is a great new challenge too but it's much more difficult as well. I feel like more planning is required and it might break some of the inherent improvisation of my photo-sessions. I like how the models develop on the canvas and theme I give them when shooting photos.

So, here we are, my friends. Still waiting, still thinking.

Don't get me wrong. I am not complaining about that. I just felt some of you might know what to hear some news and understand what's going on.

All of this is a very personal development. I am certainly not asking for ideas (sorry since I'm sure you would like to help :)). It has to come from me and I've got plenty of inspiration.

I'm so facing great challenges and I hope that I can address at least a few of them. Don't expect some groundbreaking work, it will probably progress slowly. As I said, the temptation to repeat myself is still there but it's absolutely not satisfying.

I hope are all well  Have a pleasant summertime!
