Advent Calendar jeffsimpsonkh, kperusita, me

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 25, 2009, 1:03 AM

Advent Calendar 2009

Hello my friends,

When I was a child, I had an Advent Calendar to help me wait until Christmas: everyday in December (1st to 24th), I'd open a little door and see a new image.

I'm glad to tell you that several talented artists have joined me in creating an on-line Advent Calendar (this is the 4th edition already!) that will start on Dec 1st. Everyday, one artist will upload a deviation that will be appended to my journal.

Let's end this Advent Calendar with *jeffsimpsonkh's contribution, ~kperusita's bonusand mine :highfive:

Latest movies - escape - Urban Friends

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 25, 2009, 2:00 AM

Hello my friends,

Here are some still images of my latest movies, escape and Urban Friends, I hope that you will enjoy it. For comments and feedback, please go to the corresponding deviations:

Since DA isn't a pure video community, I would suggest to either watch the DivX version or watch them on Vimeo by clicking on the thumbnails below.

Best ideas come when you're not at your computer

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 4, 2009, 1:47 PM

Hello my friends,

Just a quick thought that I've recently experienced frequently: the best ideas come when you don't sit in front of the computer screen. Either when it comes to concepts for clients (logos, websites, graphic layout) or for my personal photos / video work (stories), making several very quick sketches is a great way to generate more ideas and test them.

I store a lot of inspiring images on my computer, like thousands of them. Sometimes, when I browse this beautiful collection, I'm inspired by some ideas but it doesn't go very far since I won't copy these images anyway. When I need to develop of a full concept, nothing is better than working from scratch. Having seen a lot of interesting images in the past just provides a kind of "raw material" to your brain from which you'll unconsciously create new things. Inspiration is more interesting when it's not a conscious approach.

I've just forced myself to leave my desk, go to another room with a sheet of paper and pencil, remove everything distracting from the table and start sketching ideas. It wasn't long before I finally came up with something interesting after days of research :)

So, this is just my advice. I don't know if you share this opinion or not. I thought it would be interesting to share it with you, my artists friends and creative people.

New personal projects to come but... no more information for the moment :)

Cheers

Free shipping on prints + Calendars updated

website (900 images) - portfolio (best works) - shop + prints - my tutorials

Hello my friends

::: Free prints and calendars :::

As you've probably seen, DA is offering free shipping over all prints until October 27th and for all countries where they can usually deliver. I've therefore just quickly updated my two calendars for 2010 (same images than before)

::: What's in the pipeline :::

I've shot some scenes of a new short movie two weeks ago but I need to record more footage to complete it. Stay tuned!
I'll probably make more photos as well but I'm desperately looking for new places. >_<

I hope everything is good for you all!

Cheers

Creative pros - anyone on Behance Network?

Hi,

I've just signed in on Behance Network [link] , it's like DeviantArt but for creative professionals only (registration is moderated and limited to pros). The quality of works there is rather high and it also gives a good insight at professional work (which is often different from personal one).

I'm posting this because it's interesting to at least browse the site ;)

Out of curiosity, are some of you also using Behance Network?

Cheers and have a great day,

Jean-Sébastien
